Currently a junior in HS. I’m taking a 2 year dental assisting class there. After i graduate HS i will be able to work as a dental assistant in a dental office, but i wasn’t just going to stop there. I was going to go even further and become a hygienist.

The Navy sent me a piece of mail, and it got me interested, but I looked on a bunch branches, i guess that’s what they are, the air force, the navy and the army, and all that seems to show up is dentists (and the specialties) and assistants.

So how does it work? What should i do? Do i do into it as an assistant or what?
They pay for my tuition right?
I also hear they pay for just about everything else.
I’m interested.
Help me out.

One last question…i don’t actually want to fight, so there won’t be any chance of that, correct? Oh and do i have to go through the physical training everyone else does?

I have bleeding gums when I brush my teeth. I don’t brush them everyday, I am too lazy. I know thats wrong, I should and I will start. I would brush my teeth about once a month. I chew chewing gum regalurly. I know this is bad. So when I brush my gums bleed, not much though. I know this is a sign of gum diease. I really hate going to the dentist. Is there any way I can cure this without going to the dentist?

When I brush my teeth I basically put the tooth paste on my brush, and brush all of my teeth, i brush the gums real good, the inside behind my teeth, and all around my mouth twice then I rinse.

Does rinsing make the tooth paste less effective to whiten teeth?? If the tooth paste is tooth whitening, is there an amount of time you should let it sit on your teeth without brushing at all???

Although it may be tempting to want to cut costs by traveling out of the USA for an expensive dental procedure but I wanted to share some of the facts about Dental Tourism And The Risk Of Overseas Dental Care.  By combining both business with pleasure or vacation, many people opt to look outside the country to get a dental procedure done in places like Mexico, Thailand or South America.  But there are risks associated with this kind of a plan so I wanted to share an article that was recently on the web about the potential hazards of Dental Tourism And The Risk Of Overseas Dental Care.

With winter fully upon us, many Americans – and even some San Diegans — may find themselves daydreaming about the possibility of a tropical vacation. And in light of our still-troubled economy, the temptation to combine business with pleasure in the form of discounted dental tourism has already lured an increasing number of dental patients out of the country to Mexico, Thailand, India and beyond in the hopes of both cheaper procedures and an exciting travel opportunity. Even the Los Angeles Times has touted dental tourism as a hot travel trend on the rise; and yet, as an experienced San Diego dentist, I have seen first-hand how the promise of inexpensive dental care can sometimes backfire – leaving patients with dangerous oral health problems as a result.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the rising popularity of dental tourism – that is, the practice of traveling abroad for less-expensive dental care – is driven in large part by a widespread lack of dental insurance amongst individuals and families throughout the United States. Faced with uncovered costs for both elective cosmetic and required dental procedures, medical tourists elect to travel south of the border or overseas in search of a steep discount. And while some dentists in these areas are perfectly qualified and trained to perform both routine and complex dental treatments, others are not – leaving those patients who fail to do thorough research before booking a dental vacation at risk for improper treatment, infection and other medical complications.

So, while there may be those who have done well by traveling to a foreign country to have they dental treatments done, there have been many others that have had complications or serious problems as a result of doing so.  Before you decide to embark on a trip overseas (or across the border) to have your dental work performed, it would be best advised to consider the potential problems associated with Dental Tourism And The Risk Of Overseas Dental Care.

Are there any dental training programs for teens?

So I was thinking of being a dental hygienist when I get older. I’m a junior in high school and all and I wanted to know is, if there was any dental training program for teens? My sister went to a medical assistant/nurse type of program which helped her much to have the position she has now. She found the program at school, but they have no programs like that now, due to money issues. And I wanted to know if there were any programs that you guys knew for some Dental thing just to get me started in the career. I live in PASADENA.

According to a recent report compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, becoming a Dental Hygienist Tops The List For Fasting Growing Occupations.  It is expected to grow by more than 35% by 2018 according to some.

It is a desirable career, as it is a lucrative opportunity with somewhat flexible hours and you can become qualified to join the workforce as a Dental Hygienist after completing a 2 year degree program.  As you can see by reading further, it is easy to understand why a Dental Hygienist Tops The List For Fasting Growing Occupations.  Here’s part of a recent news article about people’s experience with becoming a dental hygienist.

SALISBURY — Neplus Hall spent five years working as a dental assistant before going back to school to become a hygienist.

It’s a decision she’s never regretted once in the last 33 years.

“It’s is a wonderful career,” she said. “It offers many, many opportunities because you are not just dealing with oral care, you’re dealing with the whole person.”

Dental hygienist tops the list of fastest growing occupations in the country compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It’s expected to grow by 36 percent by 2018.

Ms. Hall goes on to describe what she herself finds particularly rewarding about her chosen career as a Dental Hygienist.

Hall said one of the best things about her job is getting to interact with different people every day.

“You have to be a people person,” she said. “You have to care about people.”

Hall said dexterity is also an important skill to have to be able to perform the clinical work.

And Hall said the work has its challenges.

“It’s hard, intricate work,” she said.

Hall said she would encourage those who are considering such a career to work as a dental assistant first.

“That way they can see if it’s an area that they would like to pursue before they make an investment,” she said.

And so with a very good median income, increased demand for those who are trained and licensed Dental Hygienists and a projected increase of 36% by 2018, you can see why becoming a Dental Hygienist Tops The List For Fasting Growing Occupations.
