Not sure, I would advise you ask your dentist. Perhaps that is why they ask female patients if pregnant so they can take the precaution. But note this, oral health does impact both you and your unborn child. So take care of those Chiclets. Take care.
I had 2 dental x rays at about 27 weeks pregnant and they said that it was okay because I was further along, leading me to believe that if I had been in my first trimester or early second trimester they wouldn’t have given me any and waited until later on in my pregnancy or until after I gave birth. Some dentists will even make you get written permission from your doctor before they’ll perform an x ray. It’s definitely possible that it could’ve had an affect on your unborn baby (if you’re pregnant) but since they were just dental x rays it probably isn’t an issue. If you do discover you’re pregnant I would for sure mention it to your doctor. Good luck
Dental x-rays in particular will expose your baby to approximately 0.01 millirads. In other words, you would need to have 100,000 dental x-rays for your baby to receive 1 rad, and 1,000,000 dental x-rays to reach the dangerous level of 10 rads. To put int all into perspective, your baby will be exposed to about 100 millirads of natural radiation from the sun and the earth while you are pregnant.
When you have a dental x-ray, make sure the dentist or dental technician knows that you are pregnant so she can properly shield you. This will even further reduce the amount of radiation your baby is exposed to.
