My dentist said I should have some of my old amalgam fillings replaced, but I’m concerned about inhaling toxic mercury vapors when they drill them out. Should I have it done by a "mercury-safe" dentist, or are my concerns unwarranted?

Are amalgam fillings bad for health? Can they cause dry skin problems?

I am a female and fifteen years old. I have had caps on my front teeth from a bike accident for six years. I had a very good dentist who made me excellent caps. Today, one tooth has become extremely sensitive and it hurts to feel the slightest bit air on that one tooth. It is the same color as its always been, and it looks normal overall. Is this a temporary thing or should I get a new cap?

While eating a few days ago, I chomped down VERY hardly on my tongue ring with my right molars. I’ve done this on accident several times, but never so hard and never with pain – just a suprise. Now the two teeth (but especially the bottom one) are very heat/air/pressure sensitive in the spots where I bit the metal ball. I can’t chew on that side, have cold or hot liquids pass over those teeth, or wind. What should I do?
I just moved out of state for college, so seeing a dentist immediately isn’t possible.

I’m a college freshman, a health science major intending to be a dental hygienist, but i don’t really enjoy it. The classes are boring and i just don’t want the end result of them bad enough to get through them another 3 years. So i asked myself what do i want? What makes me happy? What career do i want? I want to be an actress. I love acting! It is the one thing that makes my heart soar. I love the long hours of rehearsals and the stepping into a character, being someone else in a new setting and telling a story. The problem is I have no real experience. I was in all the school plays in grade school and high school as something chorus, supporting, or main roles. I have never had any acting classes. This year i have been in a few things and that is when i have been happiest. But everyone wants to act. I am impractical to even attempt it. But if i were somehow able to convince myself that maybe i could be one of the ones who could do it how would i go about it? I don’t want to be famous or recognized i just want to be able to be on stage, or camera is fun too i discovered recently, as much as possible. I want to memorize, perfect, perform, and move people. I’ve been told i’m good but i know i’m not that great. People say i have a nice voice but there are many others who have nicer ones. I can’t dance, i’ve never had lessons i wish i could. And i don’t have money for starting up an acting career. But its really all i want to do… help.

I need my dental X-rays. How can I get photo copies of my record and X-rays from my dentist? I don’t have any other dentist that I can get a release form from the new dentist. Is it enough if I write to my dentist that I need my dental record? Thanks.
