I just used up my dental insurance…….?

Used up my dental insurance on my wisdom teeth and now have an oroantral fistula. Do I need to rush in and see someone? And alot of the pain from the wisdom teeth hasn’t left yet, is that the fistula? I’m 26 and I try not to whine(out loud), but this is still killing me! It’s been a week since I’ve had my teeth out and I’m wondering if the pain and smell are gonna ever go away? And is this going to affect my dental or health insurance?

First let me state i’m neither a right or left winger but it occurred to me (after a trip to the dentist) is dental considered a medical emergency? I’ve heard the people who do not want health care reform point out that no hospital will turn a sick patient away because of money. But, I have a hole in my head that’s infected nerve exposed because one dentists couldn’t properly remove the tooth. Now, i’ll be headed to the oral surgeon in the morning. My mom is scared because she says tooth infections can make you very ill or kill you. So, if they tell me the cost to remove whats left of the tooth is 00 and I can’t pay upfront, and my credit score isn’t good enough to set up a payment plan what is the next option? Do you then turn to the ER? Because I was told they don’t handle dental emergencies. Its very confusing to me why this is all separate and dentist get their own set of rules.

Healthcare and dental have always been seperate but I don’t understand why if its part of your overall health. So my main question is will you be denied dental services if its an emergency?

Thanks

Someone approached me here (Yahoo Answers) citing Ameriplan as an alternative to high insurance premiums, even going as far to say I could get Health, Dental, and Chiropractic coverage as low as /month.

When I googled Ameriplan there were mixed reviews, and many used the "scam" word, which is not good to read.

Your information on this company is appreciated.

I am a single mother of two young boys (ages 11 and 14). I currently pay for United Health Care coverage through my employer for Medical, Dental and Vision. However the only plan that my employer offers with United Health Care covers only the very basics. Because of this limited coverage, I would really like to purchase "additional" health care coverage from a different insurance provider.

My question(s) to all of you have been listed below;

1. In California, am I allowed to purchase additional health care coverage outside of what I already receive through my employer?

2. If yes, would the additional insurance coverage purchased then be considered a "secondary insurance" to my existing/primary health coverage with United Health Care?

I just want to be sure that its not against the law if I were to purchase additional health care coverage outside of my employer.

In Advance – I would like to "Thank you" for taking the time to read my question and sending me your answer…I truly appreciate your time.

BTW….I welcome any/all health care provider suggestions.

I have no insurance and I need 3 root canals and 16 fillings. I can’t afford the down payment on this work. Is there help available for someone in my position. I’ve looked for grants; very confusing. I make too much money for medi-cal but no where near enough for 8,000 in my mouth. Help!

Like I said, I have a confirmed cavity. No insurance, and very little money. I’ve been researching discount dental plans and such all day. Really I just want to hear from someone who had a cavity, no insurance, and had to pay out of pocket. Or with some sort of payment plan. How does it work? Please no lectures on how important it is that I go ASAP. I KNOW THIS thats why I’m asking!!! I would love to go ASAP…I just don’t want to get screwed in the process. I have my tax return coming in about a week or two, it’ll be about 0.00. From what I’ve read a cavity drilling (depending on how serious) can cost anywhere from 0.00 to upwards of ,000.00, will I just have to put a down payment on my treatment? Or is there a better option than that all together? I was even thinking about getting regular dental insurance if its cheaper spread over time? I don’t want to screw the dentist over by just simply not paying, I’m looking for an honest, cheapest possible way to get this fixed and fast!!!! Should I go in for an initial exam? How much are those usually? Can you opt out of certain things to make it cheaper? Like the x-rays?
