I had them put on just a week ago, and I am really nervous about what the outcome is going to be.

First, is it normal for an assistant to install the braces? An actual orthodontist came over and checked her work for 2 minutes afterwards.

I had done my research on ortho offices and this one had good reviews, but shortly after, I checked up on one of the orthodontists who work at the office, who had 4 one-star reviews for being inattentive and not producing results.

Another orthodontist (same provider, different location) has a more solid background, and I may start going to his location from now on, but I’ve already got the brackets on and everything. All of it was done without his supervision. My next appointment isn’t until October, and already, one front incisor is longer than the one next to it (not a gum problem! The difference is noticeable across the top.)

I don’t want to end up looking like I never had braces! Is it okay for me to call and request that the more credited orthodontist have a look-over? I am not one to give Customer Service headaches, but 5k is not exactly pocket change and two years is a long time to have braces on in exchange for less than perfect teeth.

I am 13 years old about to be 14. I am in 7th grade in all advance classes. I do very well in science and math which helps with becoming one and i am good with my hands. I was wondering if I could start working on becoming a orthodontist in middle and high school to get me prepared. I also wanted to know what all do you have to study and how many test do you have to take for this position to get my dental license. How much does a orthodontist get paid a year? How many hours of being a assistant orthodontist do I have to have?

would the person who takes the pictures of your braces after the orthodontist adjusts them or does whatever be concidered a dental assistant? I’m having a bit of a debate about this.
If not then what would the job title be called?

Question about braces for orthodontists/dentists!?
Okay im really anxious about my teeth. Im 16 and i had over crowding in my top jaw, my 2 canines were sticking out of my gums. my bottom jaw was perfect. the orthodontist a man that was recomended to my mum by loads of people and has a great reputation said that it would be best to pull out 2 of my top pre molars so my canines could be pushed back with a retainer. I said hell no that he wasnt gonna pull out any of my teeth, but he talked me round and pretty much completely swayed me to leaving him pull them and now im really worried that my teeth arent gonna turn out right. I cant sleep and have no apetite and every time i see a person im drawn to there teeth and find myself counting there teeth to see if they have both there premolars on each side. Im really worried and i need reassurance, the dental assistant was telling me that she had 4 premolars pulled for braces and all her wisdom teeth pulled and that she never gave it a second thought. I just need reassurance that i did do the right thing because i just feel i was forced into something i was so strongly against in a matter of days. So could someone that knows what they’re talking bout please give me some re assurance that it was for the best. And please no negative answers because im already really anxious about it. thank you

I got my braces tightened last week (on monday) and a bracket fell off the day after. Well, today I went to the orthodontist today for what I thought was just to put a bracket back on that fell off on my second molar. Long story short, when I got there my regular ortho. wasn’t there (he travels around to three different practice he owns) anyway, the guy who was there looked at my teeth like they normally do and then said he was going to change the archwire on the bottom and re-tie the top. I was confused so I asked the assistant why they weren’t putting the bracket back on and she said that this early in the treatment (I’ve only had braces for three months) it wouldn’t effect anything to not have a bracket on that tooth, but she was going to change the archwire anyway to "jump-start" the movement in my lower arch. My question is, is it normal for the archwire to be replaced like that only a week later? Thanks

I remember going in for a wire change once and I was chewing the gum, the dental assistants noticed and quickly advised me to remove the gum, before my orthodontist comes back. I asked "How come? Will he get upset?" They said "Some others were chewing gum and he started yelling at them"

I don’t really understand, I’ve only had two incidents where appliances broke and all of them had to do with him. Why aren’t patients allowed to chew gum

My orthodontist told me that I need to have SARPE surgery before I can be out into braces. I am a dental assistant so I know a lot about dental procedures but I would like to hear about personal experiences. Thanks!
