In first grade half of my front left tooth was knocked out and I got a crown/cap. I’m 21 now and years of coffee and smoking has turned the crown yellow. I want to get it replaced. My insurance is Anthem and crowns are covered 50%. Please help with estimated price of crown replacement.

Need more information about porcelain crowns?

Thank you for answering me with information about crowns earlier. I lost a lot of teeth structure on my front. Lots of enamel are lost. But I checked out the internet about crowns and it seems the picture for those people who use crowns have more teeth than what I’ve.

Maybe I’m wrong. Is there like percentage of tooth and crown together in order for it to be strong?

Is there any other option? I heard from a friend that porcelain veneer is not strong if u don’t have much teeth.. I guess porcelain crown is the same since they use the same material?

I schedule an appointment next week but I want to get some info so I know what to expect from dentist or see if he’s rite. What do u think I can do?

Thanks.

Full Mouth Xrays…does your dental office do these?

I’ve been a patient of my dental office for nearly 18 years, during the most part of which I’ve been quite pleased. However, they’ve recently started recommending periodic full mouth xrays (FMX) in addition to the annual xrays.

First, I am currently without dental insurance, so I lay out the money at the time of visit. FMX is rather costly. During the years when I did have insurance, FMX was never mentioned. Also, I’m not crazy about having so many xrays done at one sitting.

When would FMX be necessary?

FYI, I am fortunate to have nice chompers. Whether it be due to genetics, proper daily care, regular dental visits, or a combination of these, I do feel lucky. Aside from a few fillings and the removal of my wisdom teeth, I’ve had no other work. No root canals, no crowns or bridges, no cracked or chipped teeth…and no discomfort to lead me to believe I might have something to be concerned about. And I’m almost 40.

Thanks in advance for any input.
Oops…it appears I may have jumbled my wording. I have only had annual bitewings (4 or 6) in the past. The office has started recommending FMX as an occasional event (once every several years). Since I’d not heard of FMX before, despite having had regular cleanings and checkups all my life…I am inquiring about the importance of periodic FMX. Thanks.

Before there were root canal procedures, people got crowns on teeth that needed them and they held just perfect. There was no need to destroy the life-giving nerve to the tooth that a root canal involves. Now these greedy dentists demand root canals before a crown is put on IN EVERY INSTANCE, not just in certain instances where the root canal "might" help. It looks like just another evidence of their greedy appetites

I’m 42 and currently have a full set of dentures. I have the money for Implants and have been contemplating getting a full set, top and bottom. I’m just wondering about the strength of the crowns, the feel if the implants, the pressure they can withstand (crown included) and, if they will feel like regular teeth or thick?

Front teeth crowns causing lisp, is this normal?

I have temp crowns on 6 of my top front teeth. I get the real ones in a few weeks but I am really worried cause I seemed to have formed a lisp. Will it go away with the new ones?

I had my front 6 teeth crowned with plastic today, the dentist did each one seperatly. He said he did it lightly and if any come off not to worry and to get it and come back in.

To anyone who has had plastic temporary crowns did yours last until you got the permanents, or did any fall out?

Just wondering, so thanks, best wishes, and God bless you all.

One Anterior Tooth needs TWO Crowns !?

Hello, today I went back to the dentist after a 4 year hiatus. What puzzles me is that on my dental work plan I have one tooth – an anterior – that needs two separate crowns!? Here is what I am going to be charged, "Root canal therapy anterior 0, Prefab post , Crown Porcelain/ceramic substr" 5, and then LAVA Crown 5" – again, my concern is this is all for the SAME TOOTH!? I did a Google search and asked a few friends if it is normal to require two separate crowns on one tooth. I am thinking this is a billing error, is this correct? When I called my Dentists’ office – they told me that that’s how insurance bills – but I don’t think that is correct. Any info appreciated, thanks, Jason
