I went to the dentist, I had my tooth filled and he told my mum I need to a dental X-ray to see if I need braces but why can’t he just tell that their not straight by looking at them?

I had some X-rays done at the dentist today and on the X-ray of the right side of my mouth he saw a black dot between two of the back teeth. He said I have to come back for another X-ray in 6 months to see if it has cleared. I am very concerned about this. What is it and What will he do if it has not cleared when I go back to him? If you are a dentist I would love to get an answer from you.

im actually 2 months pregnant, and i had a dental x ray today. i know that exposing yourself to radiation is risky and bad for the baby. Although i thought that since the X ray was only on my face for my teeth, it was okay. but im not sure. please help me. is my baby going to be deformed? or have health problems?

i recently had 2 x-rays done without knowing i might be pregnant and now i’m worried i am pregnant and have now caused harm to the baby. is it possible? the first x-ray i had a protective shield over me but the second one was a standing x-ray. could that do alot of harm? i would only be about 2weeks pregnat or less. but still.. i’m hoping it’s a false alarm and i’m not pregnant.

no dental insurance so went to the wvu dental school and seemed like they knew what they was doing but the suggested a root canal but when the doctor looked at the x-ray he suggested the tooth be extracted. common ? said tooth was cracked

I just moved to Maryland and went to a new dentist. It didn’t dawn on me until I got home, but when they took a panoramic dental x-ray, they didn’t put any kind of protection on me like a lead apron. I’m a 21 year old female and I’m worried that the radiation may have hurt my eggs or anything else that could affect my future children’s health.

I am wondering if other dental offices don’t put aprons on their patients also or if this is abnormal. The place looked really nice and the people were nice too, it’s not like it was some gross scary place where neglect could happen. I will ask them next time I go which will be soon why they didn’t put a lead apron on me, but until then I constantly worry about my future children’s health. I don’t know why I didn’t think about this when I was there, but if I had I would have definitely spoken up.

I had a CT scan of my head/sinuses about 3 weeks ago and I have an appointment with my dentist next week and I know they’re going to want to do x-rays. I’m concerned about the radiation exposure issue, since the CT and x-ray are only a few weeks apart. Should I reschedule the dental appointment or refuse the x-rays or is this not even an issue? If it does pose a problem, how long after the CT scan is it safe to wait before having an x-ray?

We purchased a used stand dental x-ray machine on wheels about 1 1/2 years ago. It has been a pain in my rear since we got it. It is hard to deal with b/c you have to roll the heavy thing around the patient, and it is on an arm which has to be bent/lowered just right to avoid the whole stand tipping over. Anyways, just this last week it seems a short has developed in the cord that extends so I can go out in the hall to expose patients for dental x-rays. When I push the button it has been shutting off completely after partially exposing half the dose it should or even none at all. At that point, it just shuts off even though the power is still on. You have to turn it off and back on to reset it. Last week I was able to hold the button just right and get it to work, avoiding the short in the cord so I thought. However, today it shut off during exposure and won’t come back on at all. Is it possible there could have been a problem this whole time and it could have been leaking?
Is it possible it could have been leaking while it wasn’t in use? It also made a beeping sound like a bomb getting ready to go off before quitting. I tried to plug it back in, but it only makes a sound like electricity is running through it and won’t come back on.
Good question. I don’t know why we are using it other than it was a good deal when purchased. Wasn’t 100% sure it was messing up at first b/c if the button isn’t pushed just right it will error.
When I finally realized it was really messing up and not just erroring b/c I was pushing the button not just right, etc., I took a closer look at it and realized something was really wrong.

I have a dentist appointment today for a 6 month check up and I just got my septum done yesterday, and to hide it from my mom, I just simply flip it up. I don’t want the dentist, or my mom finding out about it. Would the nose ring flipped up in my nose cause a problem with an x-ray when they x-ray my teeth? The nose ring is titanium, if that matters.
